Rhode Island Gina Raimondo spent a half hour or so speaking to and taking questions from members of the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce. She mostly talked about her plan to fix Rhode Island schools, which includes a half billion dollar bond referendum, but she also talked about her success in improving Rhode Island’s economy, highlighting what she called Rhode Island’s “comeback.” Raimondo also talked about the success of the Northern Rhode Island Training Center, a business subsidy program. “What it is is that employers tell us what skills they need, and this training center will train them,” said Raimondo.

Raimondo also hyped SupplyRI, a Commerce Corporation initiative to connect businesses with local suppliers, keeping some off the money and jobs for these supply chains in state.

On the new PawSox Stadium Raimondo says she’s “a supporter and hopes that that happens.”

Raimondo was introduced by the Chamber’s President/CEO John Gregory, who also oversees the Chamber’s advocacy efforts at the State House for the Chamber and the Rhode Island Chamber Coalition. Gregory noted that the Chamber first worked with Raimondo when she was Sate Treasurer, on “pension reform.”
