“I’ve been a community organizer and activist in Providence for fifteen years, organizing for living wage jobs, for economic dollars that put people first, for immigrant rights, and for racial and social justice,” said Rachel Miller, who filed to run as a Democrat for Providence City Council in Ward 13. “I am running to bring that energy to City Council, to work for the residents of Ward 13 and to fight for a Providence that values the strengths of the many communities that make our city home.”

Rachel Miller has lived in the West End for 14 years. She served as the Executive Director of Rhode Island Jobs with Justice from 2003-2009 and currently works as a nonprofit consultant with Providence based community organizations. She graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 2001 with a BA in Music and Peace and Conflict Studies. It was at Holy Cross that she first became an organizer, in a campaign to win college recognition for an LGBTQ student organization, and, as she joined with students from campuses around the country to found a national student organization, United Students Against Sweatshops.
