Members of the United Nurses and Allied Professionals (UNAP) Local 5098, and representatives of Lifespan have reached a tentative deal on a new, five year contract.

Details of the contract will be presented to union members for their consideration this Wednesday, August 22. The new contract proposal addresses the union’s economic security issues and includes UNAP proposals to resolve unsafe staffing and resource concerns. A new staffing, equipment and supplies committee shall be established and meet regularly for the duration of the contract. The committee shall be comprised of UNAP members and management and be led by an independent facilitator. The joint committee will make make recommendations to the hospital administration for its consideration and implementation.

“After months of bargaining, we have finally reached a fair and competitive tentative agreement that recognizes the commitment and skill of front line caregivers and protects the interests of our patients. While the final word on approving a new deal rests with our members, the negotiating committee will present this contract proposal with our unanimous support,” said Frank Sims, RN, UNAP Local 5098.
