The 2019 Homeless Memorial Day Service

On Wednesday the Beneficent Church in Providence hosted the Homeless Memorial Day Service and Luncheon to “honor the memories of our loved ones who passed from this life in 2017 and 2018 while experiencing homelessness.” The event was sponsored by the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless and about 100 people were in attendance.

The service began with a piano recital of Let it Be by Nate Howe.

Poetry was provided by Melinda Carr-Fournier and David Eisenberger.

Reverend Elizabeth Chandler Felts, of Beneficent Church. provided welcoming remarks.

The Tenderloin Opera Company provided a song.

DonnaDeeDeeWilliams offered a prayer of remembrance.

Rabbi Sarah Mack of Temple Beth El and Aisha Manzoor from the Rhode Island Muslim Community read the names of those who passed and lit candles in their memory.

David Eisenberger read his poem, Don’t Give Up the Fight.

Reverend Cleo Graham of Beneficent Church provided the closing prayer, and Tracey Griffin from the Beneficent Church Choir provided a song

The service ended with Nate Howe leading the congregational is the singing of Amazing Grace.
