“I’m excited to run for State Representative because my commitment to progressive values – and my record of achieving real change – is long and deep. I bring many years of experience in community organizing, law, health policy, and political activism to the challenges that are ahead,” said Rebecca Kislak, who is running as a Democrat in the 2018 elections to represent Rhode Island House District 4, comprised of the Mount Hope, Summit, Observatory and Blackstone neighborhoods in Providence.

The current representative in that seat, Aaron Regunberg, is seeking the office of lieutenant governor.

Our district has benefited from the leadership of our current State Representative Aaron Regunberg, and I look forward to supporting Aaron as he takes his vision and values statewide in his campaign for Lieutenant Governor,” writes Kislak on her website. “I worked together with Aaron and others to enact legislation to ensure Rhode Islanders have access to paid sick leave, and I am fully committed to fighting hard to enact the rest of the Fair Shot Agenda that he helped create, because every Rhode Islander should have what they need to succeed.

Rebecca attended Brown University and moved back to Rhode Island in 2002 with her partner, Dr. Joanna Brown.  Rebecca ran the Rhode Island Medical-Legal Partnership for Children at Rhode Island Legal Services and served as Policy Director and Counsel at the Rhode Island Health Center Association.  She now provides policy consulting services to clients who share her commitment to social and economic justice, particularly in the areas of healthcare, housing and where they intersect. She also teaches health policy courses to undergraduate and graduate students at Rhode Island College.  Rebecca is active in the community, and is the President of the Rhode Island Chapter of the National Organization for Women.
