The Rhode Island Anti-War Committee (RIAC) hosted a program at the Rochambeau Public Library in Providence Thursday evening featuring talks by two veterans critical of United States military interventions and the military/industrial complex.

Raymond Ajemian has two degrees in history, majoring in Middle Eastern history. He served in the United States Army as an instructor for two years in the mid-1960s. He was involved with anti-war efforts during the Iraq War and is a member of Veterans for Peace. He is also the chair of a civility group in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Ajemian spoke on the military industrial complex and United States military interventions.

Lyle Jeremy Rubin is a PhD candidate in history at the University of Rochester. He served in the United States Marine Corps for five years, and nearly a year of that service in the Helmand Province, Afghanistan. He has published a number of articles for The Nation, Jacobin, Dissent, The Daily Beast, New York Daily News, and other publications on the topic of American Imperialism and the militarization of police here at home. He is a proud member of About Face: Veterans Against the War as well as the Rochester, New York branch of the Democratic Socialists of America. Rubin spoke about his experiences in the Marines and his critique of United States Empire.
