Testimony on the Reproductive Health Care Act (RHCA) before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday lasted well int the evening and into the morning, ending around 6am. Just over 130 people, on both sides of the issue surrounding safe, legal abortion testified.

The text of the bill before the Senate was modified over the weekend to reflect the language of H5125A, the Reproductive Privacy Act (RPA), which passed the floor of the House the following day.

If the Senate passes the RHCA the bills will be sent to Governor Gina Raimondo, who has said that she will sign the legislation into law.

The purpose of the legislation is to remove archaic and presently unconstitutional statutes from Rhode Island law so that the status quo under Roe v Wade might be maintained on the state level in the event that the United States Supreme Court were to overturn or severely undermine the decision.

Below is almost all the testimony. Note that Capitol TV missed at least one person testifying during a break in their files.
