On Tuesday, July 9, Tracy Ramos, the current Chair of the Rhode Island Democratic Party Women’s Caucus, announced that she is resigning from her position.

“The Caucus has enjoyed tremendous growth and success since it came back into existence in January of 2017, and it has served as a platform for bringing more women into the democratic process and Democratic Party. My resignation now will allow the new Chair enough time to settle in to her role well in advance of the 2020 election, and I am committed to serving as a resource for her.”

Ramos continued, “For the last two years, I have spent much of my time dedicated to the growth and success of the Caucus. Today, I am proud of the work we have done together, and I am excited for its next phase. I continue to believe in the Caucus’s critical goal of bringing more women into leadership in our government and in our party. For personal reasons, however, I can no longer give the time and energy necessary to effectively lead the Caucus.”

Vice Chair Joanne Borodemos noted, “The Executive Committee and our entire Caucus is deeply grateful to Chairwoman Ramos for her dedicated service. Under her leadership the Caucus expanded its reach, added new members, and built a solid structure that will serve us well as we continue growing. Chairwoman Ramos believes deeply in the power of women to change the world for the better, and she made our Caucus a home for all who want to be that change. She inspires every one of us, and we wish her nothing but the best.”

Further information will be forthcoming shortly on the process to fill the Chair position. Ramos will continue to serve as Chair in the interim.

The Rhode Island Democratic Party Women’s Caucus’ next General Meeting is on Wednesday, July 31 and our Summer Social is on August 26.
