“We would love to hear how you are getting through and how we can all work together to thrive, to find ways to give back, and to lead with love, hope and action!”

In this time of global crisis, we need one another more than ever. In an effort to deepen our connection in these tough times, The Womxn Project (TWP) is grateful to share that we just launched a new initiative to share information, resources and support to make sure that even if we cannot be in physical spaces together that we can still build community.

We are thrilled to collaborate with the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC), SisterSong: National Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective, the Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights (COLOR), and a robust set of partners, activists, and health professionals across the country that you will see as the days progress.

It is a deeply troubling time, but it is also an opportunity to make it clear that we will keep showing up for the people we work with and for – no matter what. Our intention with this joint initiative is to remind you that you are dear to us, that you are vital to this work of justice, and that there are people and organizations who are watching out for you and advocating for health, rights and justice for our communities!

The “Support, Self-Care and Resiliency” video series kicked off today with a call for immediate federal action for paid family leave from COLOR’s Policy Director, Karla Gonzales Garcia; a beautiful sermon from RCRC’s Director of Spiritual Care and Activism, Rev. Dr. Cari Jackson; and thoughts on how to be creative to stay engaged and connected from ourselves, TWP’s Co-Director, Jocelyn Foye.

In the coming weeks, we will share actions folks can take while physically distancing from others, ways people are caring for themselves and keeping their families safe, and how we can support our communities almost daily with the launch of a new video per day. We encourage you to follow each of the convening organizations on social media to continue to view new videos and stay engaged. We hope you will also consider sharing your own insights as well.

What are you doing to care for yourself physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually? What tips do you have to support your kids or help meet the needs of your community? What do you need from us to ensure you are cared for and flourishing in these troubling times? We hope that you will consider hopping on your device and sharing your own thoughts using the tag #SustainingCommunity. We would love to hear how you are getting through and how we can all work together to thrive, to find ways to give back, and to lead with love, hope and action!

Together, we will take this one day at a time. Together, we will continue to build and to sustain ourselves, our families and our communities.

Each organization and collaborating partners are available for interviews upon request.  The convening partners are also encouraging other groups and individuals to contribute their own information and insight – CALL FOR VIDEOS.
