Dates set for Providence City Council and West Warwick Town Council special elections

“City and town council members make decisions that affect education, the local economy, and overall quality of life in their community. If you feel you can be a voice for your community, run for office by filing a declaration of candidacy on April 29 or 30th,” said Secretary Gorbea. “For all eligible residents in Providence and West Warwick, I strongly encourage you to put the deadlines for this special election in your calendars so you can make sure you exercise your right to vote.”

In the last election cycle, 63% of the General Assembly elections were uncontested. Yet, in the 38% of cases where the incumbent was primaried, the challenger won, unseating the incumbent.
