“She was one of the positive cases out in the community and was brought in to our facility to wait arraignment…”
The Rhode Island Department of Corrections (RIDOC) reported via Facebook last night that a woman who tested positive for COVID-19 in the community was admitted to the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI) Intake Service Center.
The woman “is being housed in an area designated for medical isolation at the Intake Service Center. Our professional and well-trained staff is fully prepared for such scenarios and we are taking every precaution to make sure everyone is safe,” said the report.
“It is important to understand that the woman did not tested positive inside our facilities,” continued the brief report. “She was one of the positive cases out in the community and was brought in to our facility to wait arraignment in the morning. As with any new commitment, we will work with the courts, Attorney General and Public Defender to determine if she can be arraigned via video.”
