Melanie DuPont, Democratic candidate for State Senate District 22, announces new endorsements of her candidacy including Our Revolution Rhode Island and the Rhode Island chapter of the National Organization for Women (RI NOW).

“I am honored to receive the support of these organizations,” said DuPont.

“We are proud to support Melanie DuPont for State Senate,” said Hilary Levey Friedman, President of RI NOW. “If elected she will be a strong advocate for kitchen table issues like raising the minimum wage and expanding access to quality affordable health care, including reproductive care.”

“Melanie may be new to running for office, but she’s definitely not new to her district,” proclaimed Aaron Pearson, board member of Our Revolution Rhode Island. ”When Melanie talks about supporting strong, well-rounded public education it’s because that’s the education she received in Smithfield public schools. Our Revolution Rhode Island supports people who truly represent their community. People like Bernie Sanders and Melanie DuPont..”

Indivisible Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Progressive Democrats of America also endorsed DuPont in her run for State Senate.

In addition to picking up these key endorsements, DuPont hired Smithfield resident, Kristina Fox, as Campaign Manager. Fox’s list of accomplishments includes serving as the Director of Organizing for former progressive coalition Ocean State Action, and coordinating a number of local and municipal races including working as Field Director for Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza in his first run for office. Fox is a former President of the Young Democrats of Rhode Island, and currently serves as Vice President of the Young Democrats of America.

“I’ve called this district home for over 20 years. It’s where I grew up,” enthused Fox. “Melanie’s platform reflects what matters: preserving our environment, strengthening working families, and supporting our schools. I’m so excited to help elect this kind, compassionate, and thoughtful woman to be my next State Senator.”
