The Glocester Town Council ratified a two-year contract covering the town's clerks, according to the Glocester Town Council's published meeting recording.
The agreement is with Local Union 1322 of the Laborers' International Union of North America, AFL-CIO, on behalf of clerks employed by the Town of Glocester. The council also took up a continued discussion of a state education agency decision dated June 12 that excluded a $154,351 debt service figure from the town's maintenance of effort calculation, along with a related $882,853 reduction. Maintenance of effort is the state rule requiring a municipality to keep local school funding at least at the prior year's level.
No action was taken. Council members said they are still waiting on results from the state's audit office, and the chair confirmed no motion was needed at this stage.
The council then voted to adjourn by voice vote. The debt service and reduction question is expected to return once the audit results arrive; residents can follow it on future Town Council agendas.
