Rebecca Kislak, Democratic candidate for State Representative District 4, today announced the results of her first fundraising quarter.

Kislak reported raising $26114 between the filing of her candidacy in early November and the close of the fundraising quarter on December 31, 2017. Kislak reported cash-on-hand of $24860.91. The campaign received donations from 124 individuals. Over 100 donations were $100 or less, accounting for approximately $6,000 of the total raised in the quarter.

“I am extremely pleased with the broad support my campaign has received in such a short amount of time,” said the first-time candidate. “As I have met with people across the district I have heard the same thing: residents are looking for an effective, progressive leader to be their voice and advocate in the State House.”

Kislak formally launched her campaign December 11 with an in-district event.  Rhode Island House District 4 is comprised of the Mount Hope, Summit, Observatory, and Blackstone neighborhoods in Providence.

“My campaign is responding to what the people in our district are looking for – a strong advocate who’ll help make government work for all the residents in every neighborhood in the district,” said Kislak. “My experience makes me ready to fight to improve our schools, strengthen healthcare, ensure all Rhode Islanders have affordable and safe housing, and protect the rights of women to access reproductive healthcare and be free from sexual harassment.”

Kislak, a Providence attorney, provides policy consulting services with a focus on healthcare and housing. She also teaches health policy courses to undergraduate and graduate students at Rhode Island College. Kislak previously ran the Rhode Island Medical-Legal Partnership for Children at Rhode Island Legal Services and served as Policy Director and Counsel at the Rhode Island Health Center Association.  She is the outgoing President of the Rhode Island Chapter of the National Organization for Women.
