The Rhode Island Democratic Party Women’s Caucus (RIDPWC) announced its support for Monica Huertas for Providence’s Ward 10 City Council Special Election, ahead of the Thursday, October 10 primary election for the open seat.

“Monica has been advocating on behalf of her community for years, long before there was an election,” Women’s Caucus Chair Liz Gledhill noted. “Her dedication to the quality of life for the residents of Providence and her commitment to protecting the environment set her apart from the other candidates and the RIDPWC is proud to support her in this election.”

Monica Huertas is a mother, social worker, activist and graduate of Rhode Island College. Having overcome many obstacles in her life, she has made it her lifelong commitment to fight for the people and not the corporations. She resides in Providence with her husband and four children and is active on many boards including Direct Action for Rights and Equality (DARE), Crossroads RI, and NO LNG in Providence.
