Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo and Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea are set to host the Rhode Island Democratic Party Women’s Caucus’ inaugural fundraiser on Tuesday, November 7, 2017at the Roger Williams Park Casino at 6PM. The caucus was founded in January by its four co-chairs, Representative Lauren Carson, Representative Grace Diaz, Senator Gayle Goldin, and Representative Shelby Maldonado. Hundreds of women have attended caucus meetings since January.
“The women of the caucus have worked hard to bring this fundraiser together, and I couldn’t be more proud of the work we have done,” said Representative Carson, chair of the Fundraising Committee. At least 150 people are expected to turn out at the caucus’ first fundraising event, which will include remarks from the Governor and Secretary of State as well as Representatives Carson and Maldonado.
The purpose of the RIDP Women’s Caucus is to “ensure gender equality in our laws, our Democratic Party, and in our government representation. We believe that a strong Democratic Party values and includes the diverse voices of our party.”
